A Community First Yorkshire event

Board and Committee Dynamics

Four clenched fists in contact with each other above an office desk.

Event aims

A strong board or committee is a crucial part of good charity governance. If you don’t get the relationships with your fellow trustees right, your organisation will suffer.

Board and committee dynamics are healthy when:

  • ideas are debated robustly, in a constructive way and respectfully
  • all members have an opportunity to speak and express themselves
  • relationships between members are strong.

This session will look at how you can build up these relationships and ensure your board and committee are as effective as can be.

Who should attend?

This training is aimed at existing trustees and committee members in charitable organisations of all sizes.

Please note this training is aimed at organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire.

What will you learn?

Objectives – to gain an understanding of:

  • What board and committee dynamics are – and why they matter
  • Some of the typical features of a well-functioning board and committee with good dynamics
  • How to recognise and help develop positive dynamics
  • Understanding ‘groupthink’ and tips on how to avoid this.
