A Community First Yorkshire event

Community Buildings Network – Access Considerations and Trustee Recruitment

This network meeting will focus on two key areas: access and trustee recruitment.

  • Access: Key considerations for visitors or hirers living with dementia, neurodiversity, or those using wheelchairs or pushchairs.
  • Trustee Recruitment: Essential guidance on trustee role descriptions, advertising, and induction packages.

Considering ways to enhance the experience of visiting your community building includes any access barriers. Along with commonly considered measures such as wheelchair ramps, we will look at ways to enhance someone’s engagement, including those for kitchens, by utilising a number of access improvements.

For trustee recruitment we will also provide comprehensive insights into how to create effective role descriptions, advertising strategies, and induction packages. During the session, attendees will gain valuable knowledge on the best way to attract and retain skilled trustees to ensure their board is equipped with the necessary expertise.

This session is ideal for anyone involved in managing community buildings or seeking to enhance their trustee recruitment processes.

What will you learn?

We’re excited to be able to bring a network meeting out into the community of Topcliffe.

As part of the session, we will be introduced to Topcliffe and Asenby Village Hall, hearing about their history, developments and improvements, their current use and their success of using the Hallmaster booking system.

Responding to your on-going challenges, we will be sharing examples of good practice when it comes to trustee recruitment and induction processes.

Taking part in various interactive activities, you will leave with greater knowledge of how to write a role description and gain new tools to help boost your marketing plans.

A thorough induction is crucial to help retain your new trustees, so we will look at what is required as a minimum as well as how best to administer the induction process.

Who should attend?

This network meeting is for community building and village hall trustees across North, South and West Yorkshire, providing the opportunity to network and share information, advice, tips and thoughts on all aspects of running a hall.

What's included?

All attendees will receive a copy of the presentations and notes from the session.

Tea, coffee and a light lunch will be provided.
