A Community First Yorkshire event

Decarbonising Community Buildings in North Yorkshire

Monk Fryston & Hillam Community Centre, Selby

Event aims

Have you ever thought about decarbonising your community building or village hall? What are the benefits for your group and your community?

There are multiple advantages – not just from making your building environmentally sustainable, but decarbonising can reduce running costs, enhance comfort for users as well as the emotional reward of taking steps to boost your local environment.

York and North Yorkshire is determined to be the first carbon negative region, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality in 2034 and carbon negative status by 2040.

Working with Community First Yorkshire and energy consultants d3 Associates, community buildings in Scarborough and Richmondshire have taken part in a project to identify what carbon saving measures they can undertake.

Join us to learn from their experiences, and find out how you too can start the process of decarbonising your community building to protect our environment and reduce costly energy bills.

Who should attend?

This interactive session is for those who want to learn more about the process of decarbonising their community building. Anyone who is already involved in projects to decarbonise their buildings are also welcome to attend.

Please note this training is aimed at organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire.

What will you learn?

By the end of the course, you will have learnt:

  • What community buildings in Scarborough and Richmondshire have achieved in the process of decarbonising
  • How you can learn from their experiences and get started yourself with an eco audit
  • What the common themes and obstacles involved are
  • What funding opportunities are available to support decarbonisation.

What’s included?

Information discussed during the session will be shared afterwards, including an eco audit template and grant guide.
