A Community First Yorkshire event

Managing Volunteers

What makes an effective volunteer manager/coordinator? What are the key responsibilities and how do they differ across the sector?

How can you ensure effective recruitment and induction of volunteers? What does volunteering look like in different contexts?

The session is broken up into 4 areas:

  • Session 1: Good Practice in Involving Volunteers
  • Session 2: Reaching and Recruiting Volunteers
  • Session 3: Supporting and Developing Volunteers
  • Session 4: Celebrating the impact of Volunteers

This NEWLY REVISED volunteer management training – now delivered in-person again for the first time since lockdown – provides the knowledge you need to fulfil your role with confidence and to have impact.

By the end of the session you will have an understanding of:

  • Volunteering, as defined in the Vision for Volunteering, and as experienced in different contexts across North Yorkshire.
  • Volunteer role descriptions.
  • How to recruit and induct volunteers, utilising a variety of different scenarios taken from the North Yorkshire context.
  • How best to support a team of volunteers and the psychological contract between volunteers and volunteer management/coordination.
  • How to write effective risk assessments, job descriptions, adverts, and marketing plans.

Who should attend?

  • Volunteer managers/coordinators, including those new to the role and those who wish to refresh their understanding.
  • Trustees and others with a significant interest and involvement in the management of volunteers for their organisation.

Please note this training is aimed at organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire.
