Neurodiversity: Good Practice and Q and A

Person working on a laptop during a wellbeing training session, with a yellow badge displaying the words “WELLBEING TRAINING.”

Join us for an informative and interactive training session designed to address key issues facing the voluntary sector in supporting neurodivergent people and creating more inclusive, neurodiverse spaces.

This session will define and explore the concepts of neurodiversity, neurodivergence and neurotypical. We’ll look at why language matters, highlight common challenges and how they can be addressed, as well as working through scenarios with practical recommendations for adjustments and environmental changes that benefit everyone.

Whatever your role – working with clients, volunteers, staff, or others, this session will give you the insights, knowledge and tools to provide better support across your organisation.

The session will finish with a Q and A, giving space to explore specific needs and issues.

What will you learn?

During this session we will cover the concepts of neurodiversity, neurodivergence and neurotypical, linking them to mental health and exploring good practice when working with people from all backgrounds. The session will include:

  • An overview of key conditions
  • The difference between neurodivergence and mental health conditions
  • The challenges faced by neurodivergent people and how to address them
  • Practical approaches: reasonable adjustments, Access to Work, environmental changes, and useful apps/tools

Who should attend?

The session is open to anyone either responsible for, or involved in, the recruitment of staff and volunteers or responsible for working with clients. It will be beneficial whether people have current needs relating to supporting those with neurodiversity, neurodiverse individuals themselves and those who want to future-proof their practice.

Please note this training is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire.
