Preparing for the financial year end

The course will cover:

  • When do you need to start planning
  • What information do you need to have available
  • What should you include in the Trustees Report
  • Explanation of annual accounts terminology e.g. related party transactions

Additionally, the course will review a sample of accounts to allow you to understand the key issues you should be looking for when reviewing your accounts.

What will you learn?

Increase Confidence: Participants will feel more prepared for year-end tasks, knowing exactly what information and reports are needed.

Build Capacity: The course equips attendees with the knowledge to plan and review year-end accounts, making the process smoother and more efficient.

Improve Capability: By understanding key terminology and reviewing sample accounts, participants will be better at identifying and addressing issues in their charity’s financials.

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for anybody who is involved in or has an interest in their charity’s finances, including managers, bookkeepers, trustees, or treasurers.
 
Please note this training is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire.

About the trainer

Rhys North – Senior Accountant  

Rhys North brings a wealth of experience to his online training courses, including sessions on preparing for the year-end and understanding the financial responsibilities of trustees. With over 30 years of experience as a chartered accountant, Rhys has worked in various financial management roles within the NHS and retrained as a teacher in 2010. Since joining WYCAS in 2019, Rhys has been passionate about sharing his expertise, making complex financial topics accessible to all. His courses are clear, practical, and designed to support both individuals and organisations in strengthening their financial management skills.
