Event aims

Community First Yorkshire are the local Action for Communities in Rural England (ACRE) advisors for North, South and West Yorkshire and York. We provide support and guidance to trustees of community buildings and village halls that serve rural communities of 10,000 people or less.

This Village Halls Week we are inviting trustees from all halls to come and find out more about Community First Yorkshire and how we can support you and your community building. The session is open to all but will be particularly useful for new trustees and people who have never attended a community buildings network meeting.

It will be an opportunity to meet Leah Furniss and Joanne Abbott, your local ACRE advisors, meet trustees from other halls across Yorkshire and ask questions about any challenges you and your halls are currently facing. We will also be holding a short training session on good governance covering the roles and responsibilities of village hall trustees.

Who should attend?

This is a network meeting for community building and village hall trustees across North, South and West Yorkshire and York who are new to trusteeship or who have never attended a community buildings network meeting.

An introduction to Community First Yorkshire; meet Joanne Abbott and Leah Furniss and find out how we can support you and your hall.

Learn more about what good governance looks like in community buildings and village halls

There will also be an opportunity to discuss any issues you are currently facing with other community building and village hall trustees and Community First Yorkshire development officers.

The meeting will be hosted by Leah Furniss and Joanne Abbott, development officers at Community First Yorkshire and local ACRE advisors.
