A Community First Yorkshire event
Volunteer Co-ordinator Network Meeting
Event aims
Would you like to know more about involving and supporting volunteers from outside the UK? Join us as we explore some of the practical and cultural considerations of involving volunteers from overseas. We will be discussing the current legislation around sponsors, visas and DBS checks, and hear from others about their experiences of involving and supporting refugee and asylum seeking volunteers and people from different cultures.
What will you learn?
Involving volunteers from overseas can offer organisations and individuals access to different knowledge, skills, experiences, enthusiasm and commitments. It can also create links to hard to reach communities and increase the diversity of reach in your community. In this session we will explore some of the practical and cultural considerations of opening volunteering opportunities to people from outside the UK (including visitors, overseas students, refugees, asylum seekers and migrants).
There will also be an opportunity to explore this and other topics further with other volunteer coordinators and to raise any issues or concerns you may have about any aspect of volunteer management.
If you have any specific questions you would like to put to the network, please submit these before the meeting.
Who should attend?
This is a network meeting for volunteer co-ordinators from across North Yorkshire to come together to share information, advice, tips and thoughts on all aspects of volunteer management.
What’s included?
All attendees will receive a copy of the presentations and notes from the session.
