A Royal Literary Fund event

Writing Funding Applications (up to £100,000)

Increased demand for funding has left grant-makers inundated with applications and competition is fierce. Understanding how to put together a great application will increase your chances of gaining the funding you need.

How do you make a personal connection with the funder in your application? After all, they’re people too!  Telling a story is vital and being able to demonstrate how your work will make people’s lives better is an important element of a successful bid.

This Royal Literary Fund training will give you the confidence to craft that winning application and boost your professional writing skills.

What will you learn?

Writing grant applications and funding bids is challenging and time consuming. This online workshop will guide you through the process of project planning while helping you to understand the key principles of writing applications and avoiding commonly made mistakes.

Through writing exercises and discussion, you will explore:

  • How to understand what funders want – particularly larger funders with more complex application requirements
  • Interpreting funding criteria
  • Clarifying your objectives and outcomes
  • Developing a structured approach to planning, writing and editing a funding application.
  • This workshop is suitable for delegates with little to no experience of writing funding applications, looking to apply for funding of up to £100,000.

Who should attend?

If writing funding applications is part of your role in your organisation, whether you’re a member of staff or a volunteer, this training will help you craft a winning bid.

Please note this training is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire.
