Writing grant applications and funding bids is challenging and time consuming. This online workshop will guide you through the process of project planning while helping you to understand the key principles of writing applications and avoiding commonly made mistakes.

Through writing exercises and discussion, you will explore:

• how to understand what funders want
• interpreting funding criteria
• clarifying your objectives and outcomes
• developing a structured approach to planning, writing and editing a funding application.

This workshop is suitable for delegates with little to no experience of writing funding applications, looking to apply for very small amounts of money (up to £1,500) to support projects.

If writing funding applications is part of your role in your organisation, whether you’re a member of staff or a volunteer, this training will help you craft a winning bid.

Please note this training is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire. 

Shyama Perera left school at 16 and got a job in the London Transport typing pool because she needed typing skills to be a journalist. At 17 she got her first break as a trainee and, at 23, was the youngest reporter taken on by the Guardian. She later turned her hand to fiction, with her first novel, Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet, published in 1999. Two more followed, and a belated fourth is work in progress.
