Why choose the Leadership Hub?

circle of people of all ages having a meeting

We need effective leadership for our services to thrive, and opportunities to access flexible and affordable development and peer support across our region.

This leadership hub has been developed in consultation with VCSE leaders and a range of national and local leadership programme partners to offer opportunities for development, learning, mentoring and networking.

The hub aims to inform and empower you to set your own learning goals and objectives and choose your own leadership approach, according to where you are on your journey.

Leadership is a mindset that can apply to everyone. In a changing and challenging world, we all have the opportunity to be leaders – whether we lead an organisation, a team, or a service.

Our consultation shows that in North Yorkshire’s voluntary and community sector, we value leaders who are:

  • Confident, inspiring communicators.
  • Empowering and enabling.
  • Strategic, visionary and future-focused.
  • Collaborative and connecting.
  • Trusted, values-led role models.
  • Driving action and change.

The hub and its network promote ‘generous leadership’ that shares learning and growth with others to drive change and social action and ultimately benefit the communities we serve.

Our vision is for North Yorkshire’s voluntary and community sector to be successful through excellent leadership.

By developing generous leadership skills and behaviours, and attracting and supporting new and diverse leaders, the hub aims to embed an inclusive but entrepreneurial leadership culture in North Yorkshire’s VCSE sector. One that brings us together with a unified and more confident voice to represent and support North Yorkshire communities.

The Leadership Hub is funded by North Yorkshire Council and NHS North Yorkshire. Training and development for our mentors is provided by our partners, Coaching York.
