This practical, interactive session is designed for people working or volunteering in the VCSE sector who want to improve how they present – whether that’s in meetings, community settings, stakeholder briefings, or formal events.

Whether you’re speaking to one person or a roomful, we’ll help you feel more confident and develop techniques to get your message across with clarity and purpose.

In this highly interactive & practical workshop we will:

Identify key ingredients of a good presentation whether to 1 or many
Understand how being present and creating presence are crucial to transform mindsets
Explore how to tap into your personal confidence quotient
Design the format for each type of presentation and discover your winning formula
Be ready for challenging/most feared questions. How to respond especially to the NO!
Discover how your unique presence can dramatically affect results
Use energy, voice, body language for best advantage.

Identify 7 top ingredients that make excellent presentations
Spot 7 earth shattering challenges / dilemmas that sabotage a presentation
Know what 3 rules are non-negotiables
Discover how to transform presentation mindsets
Practice the ‘famous 5’ approach with the mystery object and the word
Review messages we give: non-verbal and verbal; written & spoken; intended and unintentional
Agree one essential technique above all others

Who should attend?: This training is designed for everyone in the sector who presents to staff, colleagues, funders, and others. Leaders at all levels, managers, and trustees will find it useful for meetings and presentations in a variety of contexts.

Please note this training is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire.

About the trainer: Mike Hickman

Mike Hickman is Leadership Development and Training Manager with Community First Yorkshire. Originally trained in Drama, Theatre and Television, he has acted, written and directed for the stage more than a few times over the last three decades. He is also an experienced teacher and lecturer.

Concessionary places

Thanks to funding from North Yorkshire Council, we have free ‘first come, first served’ places if you meet either of the criteria below. You can self-select a free place during booking.
Criteria:

You are from a North Yorkshire VCSE organisation with an income of up to £5k

OR

You are from a North Yorkshire VCSE organisation with an income of up to £25k that is experiencing financial hardship and would struggle to pay.

These spaces are limited so if a free place is not shown when you go to book, you can ask to be added to the waiting list for a free place on a future training session.

Cancellations should be made up to 7 days prior to the event for a full refund.
