A Community First Yorkshire event

Community Business Network

business people at work

With grant funding becoming harder to access, social enterprises are increasingly turning to earned income to sustain their operations and build a resilient future. The new Community Business Network offers a space to connect with fellow third-sector leaders across North Yorkshire who share your challenges – and your drive to create positive change.

Over the next 12 months, the network will focus on income generation, exploring the building blocks of successful trading and how they interconnect. These include:

  • vision, mission and values
  • impact and communication
  • understanding your market and selling your work.

The aims of the community business network meetings are to:

  • share news, information and knowledge
  • encourage joined-up approaches to support social enterprises across North Yorkshire
  • facilitate conversations about partnership working and provide a forum to discuss opportunities
  • build connections with other local organisations to strengthen resilience in the sector.

What will you learn?

This first session will focus on your vision and mission – how do you use them, are they still relevant, and are they helping you generate income?

With support from an experienced business coach, you’ll have the chance to:

  • reflect on your organisation’s vision and mission
  • identify strengths and areas that may need refreshing
  • explore how these elements can support your income generation strategy.
  • You’ll also have the opportunity to connect with other social entrepreneurs, share ideas, and be inspired to take your community business forward with renewed clarity and confidence.

Who should attend?

This event is open to any voluntary organisation or social enterprise (e.g. charity, CIC, CIO) that generates traded income and works in, or with operations in, North Yorkshire.

About the hosts

The meeting will be hosted by Community First Yorkshire and facilitated by Paul Kilgallon, a social venture coach with a history of working with social enterprises, corporate social responsibility, organisational development, and event management.
