Effective and inclusive VCSE recruitment

Join us for an informative and interactive training session designed to help you successfully navigate recruitment in the VCSE sector. 

This session will provide a current market overview, along with expert tips on how to position your roles, choose the right advertising channels, manage the application process and successfully hire – all with inclusivity to the fore!

Whether you’re a seasoned recruitment leader seeking fresh market insights to sharpen your strategy, or new to hiring in the charity sector, this session will equip you with the knowledge and tools to recruit ethically, inclusively, and successfully.

What will you learn?

During this session we will cover the basics of managing and running a successful recruitment campaign, to help you to successfully recruit in the current climate. The course will include short modules on:

  • Market analysis
  • Pitching and position your role
  • Processes and best practice (applications and interviews)
  • The role of EDI in recruitment and retention
  • Values based recruitment.

Who should attend?

The session will be open to anyone either responsible for, or involved in, recruitment and will be beneficial whether people have current recruitment needs or want to future-proof their approach and be ready when that time comes.

Please note this training is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire. 

About the trainer

Charlie and Leanne are passionate, dedicated, and highly successful charity recruiters with a deep-rooted love for the sector and everything it represents. With over 25 years of combined experience in charity recruitment, they bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to the nonprofit landscape. Now Directors of their own recruitment and consultancy business, they founded Charity Horizons in 2020 and have since supported a wide range of charities and individuals across Yorkshire and beyond.

With an in-depth understanding of the charity recruitment market, Charlie and Leanne are committed to championing candidate wellbeing and promoting diverse, inclusive workforces. In addition to running the recruitment arm of Charity Horizons, they also deliver sector-specific training across a broad spectrum of topics. Their training and consultancy services cover areas including: Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), recruitment policy and process, coaching, organisational restructures, staff satisfaction surveys, outplacement support, strategic workforce planning, and retention strategies.

Concessionary places 

Thanks to funding from North Yorkshire Council, we have free ‘first come, first served’ places if you meet either of the criteria below. You can self-select a free place during booking.

Criteria: 

You are from a North Yorkshire VCSE organisation with an income of up to £5k

OR

You are from a North Yorkshire VCSE organisation with an income of up to £25k that is experiencing financial hardship and would struggle to pay.
These spaces are limited so if a free place is not shown when you go to book, you can ask to be added to the waiting list for a free place on a future training session.

No shows and concessions 

Please note that if you don’t attend training that you have booked on without giving seven days notice, you will be required to make the full payment. This also applies to free places.
