The Truth about committees: roles and responsibilities
Many of you will have new trustees on your committees or some who may need a refresher on what their roles and responsibilities are. You may have questions related to new or updated legislation regarding charity trustees.
What will you learn?
Am I a committee member or a trustee – or both? What’s the difference and are the responsibilities different?
Is being a trustee onerous or can I take on this role and sleep well at night?
We know that these are common questions posed by committee and trustee board members.
Rather than have them keeping you up at night, come along to our next Community Buildings Network meeting to get the latest advice, challenge common misconceptions and ask any questions that you have.
Who should attend?
This network meeting is for existing and prospective trustees and management committee members across North, South and West Yorkshire, providing the opportunity to network and share information, advice, tips and thoughts on all aspects of running a hall.

All attendees will receive a copy of the presentations and notes from the session.
About the trainer
Vicki Sharp and Hilary Ashton are Development Officers with Community First Yorkshire.
Vicki’s experience includes 3 years as the Volunteer and Operations Manager at a museum trust where she oversaw all operations including energy and phone contracts, access and environmental objectives. Prior to that she worked for 16 years in youth services including as a Disability Careers Adviser and Youth and Community Development Worker.
Hilary has had a modular career, with the last 5 years at Community First Yorkshire and the previous 10 years as part of the Senior Management Team at a charity in Leeds. Hilary is an experienced trainer and has delivered many sessions on governance issues.
